Director Andrew Adamson wanted a genuine reaction from Georgie Henley (Lucy) when she first discovers Narnia, so he blindfolded her when she was brought to the set. When he took the blindfold off, he told her to just wander and look around and he had the steady-cam operator follow her and film her reaction.
